Ten Simple Pleasures To Brighten Your Day

Lately, life has been draining (to say the least). We are trying to juggle a family, raise children in this crazy world, grieving a tremendous loss - still, cultivating our own business, exercising, working fulltime, and still making time for our marriage. Lately, it feels like we are barely above water.

A little trick we like to use to make our day more pleasant is to find simple things that make us happy and sprinkle them throughout the day. Trust us, these aren’t big things - the key is simplicity.

I might have a warm creamy chai latte in the morning and sip it slowly while watching the birds chirp in our backyard, or taking a second or two to hold Aya/Isa as tight as possible while smelling that baby smell on them.

We thought it would be cool to give a small list of pleasures we like to sprinkle throughout our day so you fully get what we mean. What pleasant things are you doing today?

1. walking barefoot on the grass.

2. taking a looooonnnnngggg relaxing shower.

3. chai latte.

4. a long conversation with a good friend.

5. reminiscing with a sibling about your childhood.

6. eating spicy guac and chips in bed.

7. waking to an uncluttered house.

8. swimming at night.

9. a clear desk.

10. writing on good paper with a good pen.

Don’t Explain Yourself

Sometimes, a simple, “I just want to” is more than enough. You don’t need a 5-year plan attached to it. You don’t even need to tell anyone else that you are doing it -- just do it for you and see where it leads you.
